Conceptually, Hawkesbury-Hills Division of General Practice organizes Continuing Professional Development (CPD) events that enhances and promotes lifelong learning that General Practice requires to maximize patient outcomes and embrace practice staff development.
Hawkesbury-Hills Division of General Practice is an Endorsed Accredited Provider (EAR) under the RACGP QA&CPD 2008-2010 Triennium Requirements.
Our aim at HHDGP is to assist General Practice in a holistic manner in regard to behaviour, attitude. skills and knowledge. Thus we are endeavouring to ensure all domains of General Practice are encapsulated in the design and facilitation of our CPD events.

We provide education and training programs to GPs, Practice Nurses, Practice Staff and Allied Health Professionals. Our programs are mainly held as mid week dinner meetings and are also interspersed with the occasional weekend program, conducted at the purpose built CPD room at the Division premises (Rouse Hill) and /or at other venues within the geographical boundaries of HHDGP click here for events calendar. HHDGP aims to provide ongoing high quality educational events that are identified by Division members as the areas of need in regard to upskilling etc. By participating, all attendees benefit from peer interaction, knowledge gains, networking and relationship building with other local service providers. Within the educational context, HHDGP is always striving to be innovative in the mode and method of CPD presentation.
Additionally, HHDGP advertises and promotes other educational and training programs that are of benefit to our members and are being conducted locally, within the State and nationally.
RACGP: QA&CPD Requirements – 2008-2010 Triennium
HHDGP organizes the CPD program based on the RACGP triennium requirements for General Practicioner Recognition status. The minimum point requirement to maintain such status with Medicare Australia is 130 points and GPs are encouraged to do so by participating in a range of different activities covering the five domains of general practice learning needs; These being:
- Communication skills and the GP (patient / GP relationship)
- Applied professional knowledge and skills
- Population health and the context of general practice
- Professional and ethical roles
- Organisation and legal dimensions
The QA&CPD program is divided into two learning activity categories. GPs are required to undertake a minimum of two different activities from Category 1 during the triennium, these activities are worth 40 points each. There is no minimum point requirement for Category 2 activities, but it is capped at 30 points total.

Category 2 Activities
Include the following
- Workshops, seminars, presentations and short courses
- Presentation of original paper to peers
- Teaching medical students
- Training supervision
- External clinical teaching visits
- Writing a 500 word (min) community article
- Editing or reviewing articles for refereed journals in general practice
- Book reviews
- RACGP examiner
- Conference attendance

Focus Months
HHDGP are aiming to provide Practice Support, resource materials and educational events to align with the specific health issue nominated for the designated month(in line with the AGPN calendar) throughout the year.
