Mental Health Nurse Incentive Program (MHNIP)

Mental Health Nurse Incentive Program (MHNIP)

Mental health nurses work in collaboration with GPs to provide support and services to patients who present with chronic and severe mental illness.
This support includes:
  • medication management
  • improving links to other health professionals and services
  • supportive counselling and family therapy
Mental health nurse services can be provided in the patient’s home or another convenient community setting. This is intended to support the patient to manage their condition in conjunction with their GP and the Mental Health Nurse. There is no limit on the number of services while there is a clinical need, and there is no cost to the patient.
