Overview

 
Hawkesbury Hills Division of General Practice is committed to enhancing patient care through a team approach. Practice Nurses are a core part of the practice team playing a vital role in health promotion, maintenance of health and the prevention of illnesses. The roles of nurses in general practice are varied from coordinating patient care, advocating on behalf of patients, liaising with community groups and helping patients to navigate the health system.
 
Hawkesbury Hill Division of General Practice provides significant support programs for practice nurses which include the following:
 
  • Professional development for practices nurses through ongoing educational workshops and seminars
  • Provision of information/resources on regular basis to update practice nurses on developments and changes affecting general practices
  • Assisting General Practitioners in the recruitment of Practice Nurses.
  • Providing assistance to General Practices on maximizing utilization of Practice Nurses.
  • Induction course for new nurses
  • Peer support through Practice Nurse Network meetings
  • Continued support to practice nurses and general practitioners in management of Chronic Disease, Immunisations, Practice Incentive Payments (PIP), health promotion and prevention.
  • Promoting Mentoring through the National Mentoring Program
  • Take part in National and state programs that benefit practice nurses
