What the Division can do
The Divisions workforce program can assist practices address their workforce issues by providing practices with assistance in strategies for recruiting and retaining staff and providing information about new government incentives that address workforce which includes:
- Database indicating GP’s, nurses and Practice Managers wishing to work in the Division
- Advertise GP and practice staff vacancies
- Provide information about Areas of Workforce Shortage
- Provide information about current Government workforce incentives and programs
- Assist in preparation of applications for securing services of an overseas trained doctor (OTD)
- Provide introduction and help orientate new staff to the division and area

Advertising
The Division can provide assistance with advertising Practice Staff Vacancies through our newsletter and Fax outs and via Division's webpage. Send your details with a brief explanation to info@hhdgp.com.au or via fax 9836 2483.

The Division has a database of practice staff who have expressed an interest in working in our area.

Initiatives / Programs
More Doctors for outer Metropolitan Grant
Aimed at inner metropolitan doctors and specialists, and registrars and trainees, as well as outer metropolitan practices, the scheme provides financial incentives for doctors to relocate to, or remain in, outer metropolitan areas. It also provides training opportunities for doctors undertaking general practice or specialist training in outer metropolitan areas.
District of Workforce Shortage
A district of workforce shortage is one in which the community is considered to have less access to medical services than that experienced by the population in general, either because of the remote nature of the community or because of the lack of services or a combination of the two factors.
Area of Need
Approved by the Department of Health and Aging after formal application by a prospective employer.
Is any position/location in which there is a lack of specific medical practitioners or where there are medical positions that remain unfilled even after recruitment efforts have taken place over a period of time.
